"Jigsaw Activity" 4/25
The section that I did was on the free speech of the media. I think that it was a bad thing for the media to censor the opinions and the pundits of the people agents the President or have a 2nd opinion on 9/11.
2) Explain why it is an important topic. You choose what to write about, but here are some suggestions if you are stuck: How does it impact your constitutional rights? Can it impact your daily life? Does it empower or disempowered you as an individual? Does it promote or inhibit public discussion? Does it help or hurt people getting along with one another? (short paragraph)
The censorship that Hollywood and the media put on the people with minority opinions was a bad thing to do because well all have a right of freedom of speech and no won has the right to take that away from us, but there are also times where people have to lesion to what they are going to say. Some times what people say can heart or insult some with the things they say. This can cause violence with just worlds. I also thing that you should only say some thing in serton places.
3) Write one or two sentences that explain a good point made by the con side and one or two sentences that explain a good point made by the pro side (2-4 sentences total).
This a quote made by the con side that I think has a really good point "The Hollywood celebrities on the left think they can do or say whatever they please and face no criticism or consequences. It's time for them to wake up and join the real world. Until then, our First Amendment rights continue to be strong. Just as strong are the consequences for using those First Amendment rights without first using our brain."
The press in times of crisis 4/24
Pro
"Paramount among the responsibilities of a free press is the duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving people."
"The stakes are high. America's great strength has been produced by an open society, where every policy was subject to great debate."
"The only effective restraint upon executive policy and power. . .may lie in an enlightened citizenry."
2) Write a paragraph where you state your opinion on the issue. It should include some evidence from the reading, but it does not have to follow each viewpoint to the letter. You can also include ideas and evidence from other sources or individuals.
What I think about this is that people should have a limit to what they show on the news but they shouldn’t really hide everything from the people. I think that they should have a time on TV where they have reporters that are for the war to show the good stuff that are happening and other reporters that are against the war to show all the bad thing that the solders are doing. With this people could know both sides of what is going on not just the thing that the government won’t to see.

Republic Assignment 3/21
Injustice does not pay, because when unfairness happens and you feel cheated and then you don't feel motivated to do it. You feel like you are going to get cheated again, so why try. People give up on things because they feel cheated, but this affects society because society comes down. Socrates believes in justice, he does not feel injustice pays. He went against what other people said because he went around telling them what he felt was actually right and true. Injustice affects others. We live in a society where we have to cooperate, doing injustice to others will come back around.

Republic Assignment 3/20
What he is trying to say is that the people in power are the ones that always say what goes and doesn’t. Say If a leader gives a bad order and damages his people and its against the law but since he is in some one in power and he says it ok then its ok.
Question: In the second part – “Second Statement and Final Refutation” – what are Thrasymahcus’ two main points and what are Socrates’ two main points in response?
The 2 main point that Thrasymarchus’ was talking about was “'justice is the interest of the stronger party' and that injustice is the interest and profit of him self
Question: In your opinion, is it ever right to harm somebody? Why or why not? What would Socrates and/or Thrasymachus say in response to your answer?
There is always that one person that is looking for trouble. If that person starts doing thing to you and throws the first punch I think you have the right to hit back. Maybe there is someone that talks about you and just pushes it too far and all that rage you have inside you will won’t to take out on the person that is causing it. So I do think that you should have the right to hit some one only if they do something to you first.

One scene in the book that a character was afraid was when Montage was about to get run over by the kids in the car. I think that every one would be scaered by that.

When Montage was right in front of the kid’s car he would take out his flam thrower and burn them all. Then he would get cught by the cops and get arested. when he is in there he would brake out and burn down the police station.

2) Q: Faber jokingly proposes a plan of action and then starts to discuss it seriously with Montag. What is the plan of action? More importantly, why does he say it won’t work? Analyze his answer. Why won't it work?
A: The plan he was kidding about was that they where going to make copies of the bible and put it in fire mans houses and see if they burn down there houses, but then Faber says that it is going to work because the fire mans are not the problem. What he meant was that the fire men are just doing there job and there just getting rid of what people don’t use any more
